The school closures during COVID-19 have drastically impacted our community. The SNACC program had so much more in store for our students this year at The Anna Silver School. During this tragic time, we reallocated our resources to deliver food directly to the homes of PS 20 families in need.
We formed a partnership with Green Top Farms to respond to the COVID-19 crisis. We are proud of the tremendous success of our initiative to provide nutritious meals to over 200 people daily. The boxes filled with soups, meat, fresh produce, and other staple items began arriving to our families on April 10th and these deliveries are still going strong!
We have also created a resource to continue hosting our guest chefs virtually. SNACC's Virtual Kitchen is an online channel featuring instructional videos where various chefs demo their favorite easy and low-cost recipes for our SNACC community.
It is our hope to be back and running SNACC at P.S. 20 as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we will continue to push ourselves in finding new ways to carry out SNACC’s mission: to provide nutrition education and nourishment to high need youth in NYC.
Stay tuned for more updates. Be safe and be well!
